Scotland's three biggest low-cost carriers have all confirmed larger summer 2026 programmes, with new leisure routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow and extra capacity at Prestwick. Here is what has been officially announced, airline by airline.
Jet2 grows at Edinburgh and Glasgow
Jet2 has launched what it calls its biggest ever summer programme for 2026. From Edinburgh, the airline is adding three brand new routes: Kefalonia, which starts on 3 May with weekly flights, Kalamata, which starts on 6 May, also weekly, and Girona for the Costa Brava.
From Glasgow, Jet2 is introducing two new destinations, Dubrovnik and Marrakech, and plans to base up to eight aircraft at the airport during peak summer. Glasgow will also see Jet2's newer Airbus A321neo operate there for the first time, aircraft the airline describes as more than 20 percent more fuel efficient than the older jets they replace.
easyJet adds new Scottish routes
easyJet is launching four new routes from Glasgow for summer 2026: Lisbon from 29 March, Pisa and Sharm El Sheikh both from 1 August, and Malta from 4 August. Each of the four operates twice weekly.
The carrier is also opening a new Edinburgh to Ljubljana service, which it says is the first ever direct air link between Scotland and Slovenia. The route runs twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays from early April through to the end of October, flown on an Airbus A320.
Ryanair expands across the west
Ryanair confirmed its summer 2026 schedules for both Glasgow airports in late February. At Glasgow International, the airline is running eight routes including two new ones, London Stansted and Warsaw Modlin, with extra frequencies on Malaga and Krakow.
At Glasgow Prestwick, Ryanair is operating 10 routes underpinned by two based aircraft, which it describes as a 200 million dollar local investment. The Prestwick schedule spans holiday destinations such as Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife alongside city breaks including Barcelona and Pisa, with added frequencies on Alicante, Faro, Pisa, Malaga and Murcia.
