Tiree Airport
TRETiree Airport (TRE) is the island's air gateway, owned and operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited on the flat, low-lying machair of the Inner Hebrides, a few miles from the main village of Scarinish. Loganair flies the scheduled route direct from Glasgow, a journey of around 45 minutes on the 19-seat DHC-6 Twin Otter, the same rugged aircraft used for the Barra beach landings. A separate inter-island air service links Tiree with Oban and Coll.
The airport is the quickest way onto one of the sunniest and windiest islands in the United Kingdom, a place famous for its white-sand beaches and world-class windsurfing and kitesurfing. Because the Twin Otter is small, baggage is limited to 15kg in the hold with no pre-bookable extra, so travellers should pack light and confirm current allowances with Loganair before flying.
