Campbeltown Airport

Campbeltown Airport (CAL) sits at Machrihanish, about three miles west of Campbeltown near the tip of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute. Operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited, it is a lifeline airport whose scheduled service is the Loganair link to Glasgow (GLA), a hop of roughly 40 to 45 minutes that runs around twice each weekday. Because of the airport's small scale, departing passengers make a simple no-prohibited-items declaration rather than passing through full airport-style security.

For travellers, CAL is the fast way into one of Scotland's most remote whisky corners. Campbeltown was once the self-styled whisky capital of the world and today is its smallest working whisky region, home to Springbank, Glen Scotia and the Kilkerran malt from Glengyle. Flying in turns a three-and-a-half-hour drive down the Kintyre peninsula into a short scenic flight over the Firth of Clyde.
